We are now seeking volunteers for the 2009 Prairie Thunder tm Festival.  We are looking for people to work in a variety of departments, including pre-festival set-up, vendors, the information booth, and many, many more.  The key here is flexibility. We cannot stress this enough.  We need volunteers that are ready, willing, and able to go anywhere on the grounds to lend a helping hand and who are excited to be a part of a major team effort. Excellent leadership abilities and a desire for a hands-on, interactive experience need apply.

•    All volunteers will be asked to distribute fliers around their home areas before leaving to work the show. Several will be needed from the various colleges in the area. All advertising helps.
•    All shift times are approximate and may vary.  We will do our best to keep things fair and consistent, however shift times and total work hours will not be the same for all volunteers.  Volunteer must be flexible.
•    Volunteers agree to be on time to all assigned shifts.
•    Volunteers are required to put down a $60.00 deposit via PayPal, including a non-refundable $10 deposit-processing fee. Sorry, no forms of payment other than PayPal are accepted.

(In the event that you send a deposit before we notify you that there are no longer volunteer positions available, your full deposit including the processing fee will be refunded to you. If you send your deposit after we notify you that no more positions are available, only your $50 deposit will be refunded; your $10 deposit-processing fee will not be refunded.)
•    Your deposit will be reimbursed via PayPal upon the completion of your shifts in the week following the festival, minus the $10 deposit-processing fee. Your deposit represents your commitment to Down on the Farm, not a payment. As long as you fulfill your volunteer duties, your deposit will be returned via PayPal after the festival.
•    Note that if you cancel less than one week from the day of your first shift, you agree that your full deposit will be forfeited to Down on the Farm.
When do we have to show up?
If you are accepted into the volunteer program, you will receive more specific information about your volunteer assignment and work schedule.

Where do volunteers stay?
Pre-festival and festival volunteers will be required to camp in a designated volunteer and staff camping area.
What type of jobs/departments could I be working in?
There are a variety of different departments including vendor set-up and coordination, information booth, flyer distribution, sponsor booth, staff catering, VIP set-up and maintenance, and Access (just to name a few)…
Volunteers are on hand to help out when and where they are needed.  You may end up getting pulled from one area and shifted to another, based on changing needs.  The key is to be flexible and willing to lend a hand.
Do volunteers get to see the show?
All volunteers are free to enjoy the show while not scheduled to work so long as you arrive on time and ready to work when scheduled.

Can I request to work with a friend?
While we do our best, keep in mind that all requests are NOT guaranteed.
